Burning the Midnight Oil


It is almost 1:30 am as I write this. I am exhausted. The past few weeks have been a blur of extremely intense working with very few breaks (and most of those breaks were trying to do body maintainance and chores). Today I worked for almost 18 hours (7:30am to 1:30 am) with almost no breaks. I don't think I've crunched that hard before even during game jams. 

But nothing compares to the extreme satisfaction of a game finally coming together. All the systems finally synching up, the animations finally running. And then on the last day, the UI comes in and suddenly it stops looking like a tech demo and becomes a game!

New things since the last dev log: 

- more animations in more places (like literally almost every conversation has some animations associated with it). 

- an actual UI concept and visuals

- some fixes to the fadeout behavior

- a lot of bug and continuity error fixes (especially that one bug that made it impossible to normally get past day 7) 

- many typos

- edited credits to include our UI consultant

- more stuff but my brain is already in bed

I am going to go sleep now. Tomorrow w will run one or two last rounds of intense bug fixing and trouble shooting, but then I daresay we will publish the final exhibition build and change this project from prototype to release. And I will finally answer some very important emails I have literally not had the time to even open since at least a week...
