What is it?

You knit in public. People see you doing so. They get curious so they want to talk to you.

Frayed Ends - meeting the punk
“A young person sits down across from you and watches you work.”

Your  conversation starts about knitting.

Frayed Ends - meeting the old lady
Senior: “Excuse me honey, what are you knitting there?”

But then you get to decide where the conversation goes.

Frayed Ends - You choose where the conversation goes
User choice: Say “It’s fun.” or “It’s boring.”

And now it’s up to you to navigate the conversation.

You can learn about the people’s past, you can learn about their thoughts on contemporary issues,

Frayed Ends - meeting the business person
Business Person: “If I am honest with you, the worst is that I have had plenty of relationships fail because I am a career driven person.”

And you can also just spend some time together and get a glimpse of another person’s life.

Frayed Ends - meeting the blind person
Blind Person: “I suppose we’ll be keeping each other company then.”
How was it made?

Using the amazing game engine Ren.Py I made this video game for a university project. This is my first proper, full game and it was made as a challenge to create a finished product within one and a half months.

I will continue to work on it and edit it further. But this is the state that it is being exhibited in at Game Zone in Stuttgart, Germany from 30. April – 05. May 2019.

I love this! I do knitting including in public and I love how it shows the little conversations that happen when you knit in public. I think I played through all the different options, and they were all so nice. I like the painterly art style and how kind hearted this game is. :3 thank you!

I am so glad you enjoyed the game! You are very welcome. It's fun to know that I am not the only one who experiences these little conversations irl when knitting in public!

Fun game. It's nice and relaxing. I also like the message of how the little things we do can affect people greatly.
